I would like to ask if during my IELTS speaking exam part 1 I feel nervous, can I just close my eyes or look in another direction or just cover my eyes with a handkerchief?

So, you’re in the street and a tourist comes up and asks you where something is. In response, you look in another direction and put a handkerchief over your eyes……Imagine the situation!

So, you need to get over your nerves. You can do this by practicing with people. If you want to make it more authentic, get a native speaker to run through the speaking exam with you a few times. You can do that with IELTS examiners on the internet here. And if you scroll down, you can see the report you will get too so you know what you need to work on to get higher marks.

Remember, the examiners are people just like you. This is a part-time job for them to make some extra money. They understand the pressure you are under and want ot make you feel at ease as much as possible so they can get an accurate reading of your spoken English. Imagine you are in the pub with them, having a pint and they want to know more about you. Let them guide the conversation. ??’? ??? ? ??? ??? ???????????? ??????
It is only as stressful as you want to make it.
